Tan Sri Dr Ahmad Tajuddin Ali was appointed to the Board on 15 September 2008 as a Nominee Director of UEM Group Berhad. He was appointed as the Chairman of UEM Group Berhad on 1 April 2007.
Tan Sri Dr Tajuddin was previously the Director-General of Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia (SIRIM), the Chairman and Chief Executive of Tenaga Nasional Berhad, Chairman of UEM World Berhad, and director of Sime Darby Berhad.
An engineer by training, Tan Sri Dr Tajuddin graduated with First Class Honours in Mechanical Engineering from King´s College, University of London in 1973 and obtained his doctorate in Nuclear Engineering from Queen Mary College, University of London in 1977. He did post-doctoral work in nuclear engineering at Oregon State University (1977-1978) and at Pennsylvania State University (1978).
He was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Science Degree by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) in 2000 and the Honorary Doctor of Engineering Degree by Universiti Tenaga Nasional (UNITEN) in 2008. In 2009, he was conferred the Honorary Doctor of Science Degree by Universiti Malaysia Terengganu (UMT) and received the Prominent Player Award from the Construction Industry Development Board, Malaysia (CIDB). He is also a graduate of the Harvard Business School´s Advanced Management Programme.
Currently, Tan Sri Dr Tajuddin is the Chairman of PLUS Expressways Berhad, Linde Malaysia Holdings Berhad (formerly known as Malaysian Oxygen Berhad) and of the Energy Commission of Malaysia. He is also the Chairman of the Malaysian Standards and Accreditation Council and the Joint-Chairman (Industry) of the Malaysian Industry-Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT), the President of the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia and a member of APEC Business Advisory Council (ABAC).
He is currently a member of the Governing Council of the International Institute of Applied Systems Analysis (IIASA) in Laxenburg, Austria.
Tan Sri Dr Tajuddin is a Registered Professional Engineer with the Board of Engineers Malaysia, a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers Malaysia and a Fellow of the Asean Federation of Engineering Organisation (AFEO). |
